Swirled Garlic Herb and Cheese Bread

A soft, fluffy homemade bread swirled with buttery garlic, aromatic herbs, and melted cheese. This savory loaf is golden on the outside, tender on the inside, and perfect as a side dish, appetizer, or comforting snack.

Ingredients

  • For the Dough
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk or water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • For the Filling
  • 4 tablespoons butter softened
  • 3 –4 cloves garlic minced
  • teaspoons mixed dried herbs or Italian seasoning
  • cups shredded cheese mozzarella, cheddar, parmesan, or a blend
  • Optional: pinch of salt or chili flakes

Method

  1. Activate the yeast by mixing it with warm milk or water and sugar. Let it sit until foamy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and oil, then knead until a soft, elastic dough forms. Cover and let rise until doubled in size.
  3. Mix softened butter with garlic and herbs to create the filling.
  4. Roll the dough into a large rectangle. Spread the garlic herb butter evenly and sprinkle with cheese.
  5. Roll the dough tightly into a log. Slice lengthwise and gently twist to expose the swirl.
  6. Place in a greased loaf pan, cover, and let rise briefly.
  7. Bake until golden brown and fragrant. Cool slightly before slicing.

Notes

Use softened butter, not melted, for clean swirls.
Freshly grated cheese melts better than pre-shredded.
Let the bread cool slightly before cutting to keep the texture fluffy.
