Quick & Easy Homemade Butter Chicken

A rich, creamy butter chicken made with tender chicken pieces simmered in a velvety spiced tomato sauce. This easy homemade version delivers classic flavor in less time, making it perfect for weeknight dinners without sacrificing depth or comfort.

Ingredients
  

  • Boneless chicken pieces
  • Butter and neutral cooking oil
  • Onion garlic, and ginger
  • Warm spices such as garam masala paprika, and mild chili
  • Tomato base crushed or puréed tomatoes
  • Heavy cream
  • Salt and black pepper
  • Optional garnish such as fresh herbs

Method
 

  1. Cook the chicken in a pan with oil until lightly golden, then remove and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, melt butter and cook onion, garlic, and ginger until fragrant.
  3. Stir in spices and briefly cook to release aroma.
  4. Add the tomato base and simmer until slightly thickened and smooth.
  5. Return the chicken to the pan and simmer gently.
  6. Lower heat and stir in cream until the sauce becomes rich and silky.
  7. Adjust seasoning and serve warm.

Notes

For best flavor, avoid high heat after adding cream. Let the dish rest briefly before serving so the flavors can fully develop.
