Pizza Grilled Cheese

A delicious fusion of two comfort-food classics—pizza and grilled cheese. Crispy, buttery bread filled with gooey mozzarella, savory pizza sauce, and your favorite pizza toppings. Ready in under 10 minutes and perfect for lunch, dinner, or a quick snack.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 slices of bread thick-cut preferred
  • 4 –6 slices mozzarella cheese or 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 4 tablespoons pizza or marinara sauce
  • 8 –10 slices pepperoni optional
  • 2 tablespoons butter softened
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan optional
  • Red pepper flakes optional
  • Additional toppings: sliced olives mushrooms, bell peppers, basil

Method
 

  1. Butter one side of each bread slice. This will be the outside of the sandwich.
  2. Lay one slice butter-side down in a skillet over medium-low heat.
  3. Add a layer of mozzarella, a spoonful of pizza sauce, and your desired toppings.
  4. Add another layer of mozzarella and cover with the second slice of bread, butter-side up.
  5. Cook slowly for 2–4 minutes until golden and crispy.
  6. Flip carefully and cook the other side until the cheese is fully melted.
  7. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning or Parmesan if desired.
  8. Let rest for 1 minute before slicing and serving.

Notes

• Slow heat is key—this prevents burning while allowing the cheese to melt fully.
• Use brioche, Texas toast, or sourdough for the best texture.
• For a crispier result, toast the bread in garlic butter.
• Add basil or chili flakes for extra flavor.
• Can be made in an air fryer at 180°C (350°F) for 5–6 minutes.
