Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef lean
  • 4 medium potatoes thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese or blend
  • ¾ cup milk or light cream
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • Optional: paprika or Italian seasoning

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet. Brown ground beef with onion until cooked; add garlic and season. Drain excess fat.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish.
  4. Top with half of the beef mixture and a layer of cheese.
  5. Repeat layers with remaining potatoes, beef, and cheese.
  6. Pour milk evenly over the dish.
  7. Cover with foil and bake 30 minutes.
  8. Uncover and bake 15 more minutes until bubbly and golden.
  9. Rest 5 minutes before serving.
