Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper.
- Stir in green beans and 2/3 cup of the French-fried onions.
- Spread mixture into a baking dish.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until hot and bubbling.
- Stir the casserole, then top with remaining fried onions (and cheese if using).
- Bake an additional 5–10 minutes until onions are golden and crispy.
- Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
• Use fresh or frozen green beans for a firmer texture.
• Add cheddar cheese for a richer, creamier casserole.
• Mix in sautéed mushrooms, garlic, or onions for extra depth.
• For a lighter version, use low-sodium soup and replace some onions with panko.
• To freeze: assemble without the topping, thaw overnight, bake, add onions, and finish in the oven.
