Prep Time: 5 minutes Cook Time: 40 minutes Total Time: 45 minutes Servings: 3 potatoes

Ingredients

  • 3 russet potatoes about 10-11 oz / 300g each
  • tablespoons oil canola, avocado, or olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper generous amount
  • Optional Toppings
  • Butter or sour cream
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Crispy bacon bits
  • Chopped green onions or chives
  • Steamed broccoli chili, salsa, or queso

Method

  1. Preheat air fryer to 400°F (if required by your model).
  2. Wash potatoes thoroughly under running water and pat completely dry.
  3. Rub each potato all over with oil, then season generously with salt and pepper. Pierce once in the center with a fork.
  4. Place potatoes in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook at 400°F for about 40 minutes (adjust 5-10 minutes less or more depending on size).
  5. Test doneness by inserting a sharp knife into the center—it should slide in and out easily.
  6. Slice open, fluff the insides with a fork, add toppings, and serve hot.

Notes

Dry potatoes thoroughly for maximum crispiness—moisture prevents the skin from getting crunchy.
Choose similar-sized potatoes for even cooking.
No need to wrap in foil; the air fryer creates perfect texture naturally.
Cooking time varies by potato size and air fryer model—always check with a knife.
For faster results, microwave potatoes 4-6 minutes first, then air fry 20-25 minutes.
